A motorcyclist who died in a four-vehicle collision has been named by police.

Andrew Leaver, 37, died in the crash which involved two motorcycles and two cars on the A688, near Staindrop, County Durham, on Saturday.

Durham Police said the other motorcyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The force has appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.

Neither of the car drivers were believed to have been injured.

Police said the family of Mr Leaver, who is known as Andy, had asked to be left to grieve in peace.
