Man denies superglue plot for Boris Johnson's party

A man accused of planning to use spray paint and superglue to damage Boris Johnson's wedding party venue has pleaded not guilty.

Tim Speers, 39, is alleged to have been found with the items – along with red boiler suits – on the eve of the former prime minister's celebration at Daylesford estate in Gloucestershire in July 2022.

At a hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, he denied having items with intent to damage property. He also denied possession of a class B drug, cannabis, and a class C drug, Xanax.

Speers, of Bude in Cornwall, was bailed to appear at Southwark Crown Court on 3 February.

The former prime minister and Carrie Johnson were married in a private ceremony at Westminster Cathedral in May 2021.

They hosted their wedding celebrations at Daylesford House on July 30 the following year, setting up marquees and hay bales in the grounds.

Owned by Anthony Bamford, billionaire businessman and chairman of JCB, the 18th-century Daylesford estate boasts a Georgian manor and hundreds of acres of countryside.
