A murder investigation is under way after a mother and her son were found dead at a property in Huddersfield.

Jane Riddell, 61, and Lee Scott Riddell, 35, were found unresponsive at an address in Greenlea Court by officers on 3 February, with both pronounced dead a short time later.

West Yorkshire Police said a murder investigation had been launched after a post-mortem examination determined Ms Riddell's death was suspicious.

The force, which has only just released the details of the incident, said Mr Riddell's death was not being treated as suspicious, adding that officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

A police spokesperson said an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding their deaths was ongoing.

'There every moment'

An inquest into both deaths was previously opened at Bradford Coroners' Court.

A further hearing on Wednesday was told that proceedings would be adjourned for the police investigation to conclude.

Writing on an online tribute page, Ms Riddell's daughter, Rachel, said: "My heart is broken, I still haven't come to terms with never seeing you again.

"I will cherish the 32 years I got having you as my mother. You were there every given moment, especially for your grandchildren.

"You gave us such a great childhood. You would walk us miles to school each day when you couldn't drive, up that massive hill in Brighouse with two young children and me in the pushchair."
