A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in his 20s.

Manchester Road in Swindon has been closed since the man was found seriously injured at about 05:10 BST. Officers are working to identify his next of kin.

Wiltshire Police have said there is "no information to suggest that this incident is linked to a terrorism arrest" in the same area.

Det Ch Insp Phil Walker, who is leading the investigation, appealed for anyone with relevant information, dash cam, or CCTV footage to come forward.

Three police officers stood near police tape inside of a cordon on Manchester Road. They are wearing yellow high vis jacket saying 'police'. There are several houses in the background.

He added they were keeping "an open mind" about what caused the man's death.

"We are asking members of the public to help by sharing any information they may have in relation to this," he said.

Investigating officers would also like to speak to a member of the public who initially alerted nearby officers but did not leave his details.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust confirmed they "sent two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer to the scene," and that they had taken one patient to Great Western Hospital.

A cordon on Manchester Road was expected to remain in place "for the foreseeable future", police added.

Philip Wilkinson, Wiltshire's Police & Crime Commissioner, said neighbourhood patrol teams would be visible in the area to help reassure residents.

"I would like to offer my condolences to the family and friends of the victim."
