A man has been charged after an 82-year-old man was attacked and left seriously injured at a bus stop in Birmingham.

Officers said the victim remained in a critical condition in hospital after the attack at about 15:30 GMT on Tuesday, while he was waiting at the number 74 stop on Soho Road in Handsworth.

A 43-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with wounding, West Midlands Police said.

He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

The force is continuing to appeal for anyone with information or dashcam footage to make contact.
