Northwich Arts Festival is in its fifth year
One of the aims is to make arts more accessible to the public

About 10,000 people were expected to attend a free festival on Saturday that aims to make art more accessible in the Cheshire town of Northwich.

Acrobats and dancers from across the country and around the world performed outdoors for spectators in the town centre.

High-wire walker Ellis Grover, from Gorilla Circus, said: "The inspiration in children when they see something like this can show them that there's so much more possibility in the world, and I've made a career out of that myself."

One spectator told BBC North West Tonight: "I've lived in Northwich all my life so it's brilliant to have it on your doorstep and you can just walk to it."
