Postal workers rescue library home deliveries
A library home delivery service has been saved after postal workers stepped in to help keep it running.
Guernsey Post said it had formed a partnership with the Guille-Alles Library in St Peter Port to continue the service established in 2018 to deliver books, audiobooks and other materials for free to people's homes.
The library said the future of the service used by 40 people had been uncertain as grant funding used to run it had become unavailable.
Guernsey Post said it would handle deliveries coordinated by library staff and returns would be part of regular postal services.
Adam Bayfield, Guille-Alles' head of marketing and customer services, said the library was grateful for Guernsey Post's help.
Mr Bayfield added: "The service makes a huge difference to the people who use it, ensuring they can continue to access the library and enjoy all the many benefits of reading.
"The library is for everyone, and we're committed to making sure that the books in our collection are accessible to all."
'Making positive difference'
Dawn Gallienne, head of corporate engagement at Guernsey Post, said the company was pleased to be able to support the "vital service".
She said: "This aligns with our commitment to supporting the community and ensuring essential services are accessible to everyone.
"Our posties are often a friendly face in the community, and we're proud to play a part in making a positive difference."
