More than 100 cannabis plants have been seized by police after officers raided a property in Coventry.

West Midlands Police visited the building on Highfield Road on Monday after reports from members of the public of suspicious behaviour.

Cannabis plants spread across several rooms were found, along with growing equipment that included lamps and heating pipes, which had been powered by bypassing the electricity supply, the force said.

It added that officers carried out a warrant with colleagues from Western Power.

A spokesman for the force said the set-up at the site was "extremely dangerous".

He said: "The vast amounts of electricity required to power cannabis farms can cause catastrophic fires threatening the surrounding area."

No arrests were made and police have appealed for information that could help identify those responsible for the operation.
