Man charged after reports of gun pointed at child in burglary

A 32-year-old man has been charged by police investigating an aggravated burglary during which, it was reported, a gun was pointed at a child in Ahoghill in County Antrim.

Police said they received a report at about 19:45 GMT on Monday that a man with his face covered had smashed the glass of a property in Laurel Park.

A gun was pointed at a man and a child who were in the house at the time.

The occupants escaped.

Police have charged a 32-year-old man with aggravated burglary, trespassing with a firearm, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of class B and C drugs.

The man is to appear at Ballymena Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.
