Dozens of drivers were caught speeding or not wearing a seatbelt during a road safety operation in Bradford South

More than 170 driving offences were reported to police in Bradford as part of a clampdown on dangerous driving in February.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Operation Steerside team joined forces with neighbourhood officers to target poor driving in the Bradford South area.

They focused on driver behaviours with the biggest risk of serious or fatal collisions, such as drink driving or using a handheld phone at the wheel.

The operation led to two arrests for driving while over the limit and eight vehicles being seized, while 44 drivers were caught speeding and 29 were caught driving without a seat belt.

Insp Adam Beecroft from the neighbourhood team said: "Making our roads safer continues to be a key priority for our officers as we know it is for residents.

"I would like to thank the community and our partners for supporting us with this initiative to make our roads safer for all."
