Man armed with piece of wood attacks police officers
Four police officers have been injured after being attacked by a man "brandishing a large piece of wood," in County Down.
Police were called to the Demesne in Newry at about 8:20 GMT, on Sunday, after reports of a man causing a disturbance and throwing items at a property.
Once officers arrived, the man attacked police.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers sustained bruises, lacerations and back pain, and one officer attended hospital.
All officers stayed on duty
All four of the police officers remained on duty.
A 21-year-old man has been charged with assault on police as well as disorderly behaviour and possession of an offensive weapon.
He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates' Court on Monday.
The Public Prosecution Service (PPS) will review the charges.
