Local residents can expect some changes to their normal bin collections over Christmas and New Year

A Surrey authority has announced changes to waste collection between Christmas and the New Year.

Guildford Borough Council is urging residents to check the schedule in order to ensure minimum disruption.

Changes to the normal schedule are expected on 25, 26 and 27 December and 1, 2, 3 January 2025.

George Potter, lead councillor for environmental services, encouraged people to also "check what they can put in their recycling especially at this time of year".

He reminded residents that "glitter-covered and non-paper gift wraps" cannot be recycled.

There are no planned changes for 23 and 24 December.

Collections on the 25 December have been rescheduled for 27 December.

Bin collections on 26 and 27 December have been rescheduled for 28 and 29 December, respectively.

Collections on 30 and 31 December are set to remain the same.

Collections on the 1, 2 and 3 January 2025 have been delayed by one day.

Residents can see the planned changes on the council website and social media channels.
