Police are appealing for witnesses following a report of a burglary by three armed men who broke into a home, ransacked the property and stole food.

The residents were in the house during the incident, which happened on Thursday on Melbourne Road, Grantham, just before 17:40 GMT.

Police said they were considering if the burglary was linked to two incidents in the town earlier on the same day.

At 16:20, a teenage boy was robbed at knifepoint, while at 17:35 there was another aggravated burglary by three men on Christchurch Road, the force said.

The teenage boy was threatened with a knife by a man in Eton Street, who stole his bag and mobile phone, officers said.

The man was described as being white, bald, between 20 and 30 years old, about 6ft (182cm) tall and was wearing a black tracksuit. He was with two other people and they left in the direction of a branch of McDonald's.

A short time later, it was reported that three men smashed through a glass pane in a door of a property in Christchurch Road, but they were challenged by a resident and left.

Police did not specify what kind of weapons were used to break into the two homes.

A spokesperson for the force said all three incidents were concerning and would have been incredibly frightening for the people involved.

Anyone with information or CCTV or dashcam footage taken between 16:15 and 17:45 is asked to contact the force or the charity Crimestoppers, where information can be reported anonymously.
