Townhouse to be converted into children's home
A family home will be converted into a children's home in Sheffield despite objections from neighbours.
The three-bedroom townhouse in Waltheof Road will house up to two children aged between 10 and 18, as well as a manager or deputy and two carers.
Planning officers at Sheffield City Council granted permission for the home, which applicants said would be registered with Ofsted.
Developers said the home would aim to provide a "smooth transition" for children who would come to live there "through careful planning and consideration".
A report added: "It will primarily serve medium to long-term placements in order to minimise disruption to residents.
"There will be no external alterations to the building or surroundings.
"From the outside, there will be no change in the appearance or character of the dwelling."
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, a "couple" of letters were submitted against this development, raising concerns over anti-social behaviour, increased noise levels and the impact it could have on people's mental health.
