An annual outdoor Christmas event aims to showcase the "incredible talent" of a city over the winter holidays.

Southend-on-Sea City Council announced Carols in the Park would return at the Priory Park Bandstand in Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, on 22 December.

The Priory Brass will also perform a concert with an hour's programme on 1 January between 14:00 GMT and 15:00, in the same location.

Matt Dent, a councillor and the cabinet member for culture, tourism, and business, said: "These events showcase the incredible talent we have in our city, and provide a chance for families and friends to gather and celebrate together."

Both events will be free to attend.

Dent said: "We are delighted to bring these wonderful concerts to Priory Park. It's a fantastic occasion for the community to come together, enjoy the festive spirit, and create lasting memories.

"The performances by The Southend Band and The Priory Brass are sure to fill the park with joy, making this festive season a great one.
