Cannabis haul worth over £1m seized by police
A haul of cannabis, worth more than £1m and weighing over one tonne, has been seized after a van was stopped in Gravesend, said Kent Police.
Officers searched the Ford Transit on 13 November following a report of suspicious activity and found an estimated 500kg of packed cannabis.
The force said two men were arrested at the scene and inquiries "led to detectives searching a property in Herne Hill, south east London on the same day".
"More cannabis, estimated at weighing around 800 kilograms, was seized at the property and the total street value of all of the seized drugs is estimated to exceed more than £1million", the force added.
Police said two men have been charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
The force said they were remanded in custody and due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be arranged.
