Second man arrested after slurry spread on town streets

A second man has been arrested after slurry was spread on a number of streets in Ballymena in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 20-year-old was arrested on Sunday as part of the police investigation into the incident which is being treated as a hate crime.

He was arrested on suspicion criminal damage, aiding and abetting criminal damage and causing material to be deposited on a road.

The man remains in custody at this time.

Patrol officers spotted slurry on the streets of the town, including Greenvale Street, at 02:55 BST on Saturday.

Ballymena's first ever Pride parade took place in the town on Saturday afternoon, which ended at Greenvale Street.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in the Granville Road area on Saturday.

He has been charged with criminal damage, possession of an article with a blade or point and causing material to be deposited on a road, and is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said enquiries are ongoing and have called on anyone with information to come forward.
