New mothers tell of Christmas baby joy

New parents who spent Christmas Day giving birth say they have received the most priceless gift of all.

While many were busy opening presents and tucking into festive meals, midwives were helping mothers deliver children in the Black Country.

Among them were Doreen Nsiah who gave birth to baby Kylian at Walsall Manor Hospital.

Faidat Hassan also brought baby Grace into the world at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.

Ms Nsiah explained her third child had arrived a couple of weeks early, giving her and husband Prince Yeboah a Christmas Day to remember.

She said "priceless" Kylian weighed seven pounds and 13 ounces and she couldn't wait to share the news with her family in the UK and Ghana.

"My children don't know they have a new baby brother yet," the 31-year-old said.

"I will call them and send them pictures of him. I think they will be really excited."

Ms Hassan welcomed Grace, her first baby, explaining she had been trying to start a family with husband James Ojo for a long time.

"She is our gift from God as we had waited so long for a baby," the new mother, 29, said.

"We found out we were having a girl and I felt twice as blessed as I really wanted to have a daughter.

"I am around children all the time in my teaching job so I know how energetic they can be and I'm ready for this. We are just so happy she is here."

Luckily for the couple, Grace's aunt and grandmother had come over from Nigeria for the festive period and were taking care of cooking Christmas lunch.
