Polling stations in Doncaster have closed, with voters set to elect a new mayor and council.

All 55 seats on the council are up for grabs as well as the post of directly elected Mayor of Doncaster.

Polling stations will be open between 07:00 and 22:00 BST.

Counting in the mayoral election is expected to start once the polls close, with counting in the council election due to start at 11:00 on Friday.

There are 12 candidates vying for the role of Mayor of Doncaster, which has been held by Labour since 2013.

Ahead of today's vote the council was made up of 42 Labour councillors, 11 Conservatives, two Mexborough First councillors and one Edlington and Warmsworth First representative.

The BBC will provide results from both elections and they will also be published on the City of Doncaster Council website.
