Man accused of fatally punching dad denies murder

Thomas Collier was found injured at his home in Philip Road, Witham, police said

A man accused of punching his father in the face and causing his death has denied murder.

Thomas Collier, 79, died in hospital four days after being found with a head injury at his address in Philip Road, Witham, Essex on 8 January.

An inquest opening in January heard Mr Collier's 41-year-old son told police he was injured after falling out of bed.

Jimmy Collier, of the same address, pleaded not guilty to murder at Chelmsford Crown Court and is due to stand trial on 28 July.
