A Nottinghamshire police officer behaved inappropriately with female staff members, a force misconduct hearing has ruled.

Former PC Keith Brothwell was "inappropriately familiar" with junior female colleagues on a number of occasions in 2022 and 2023, a hearing at Nottinghamshire Police's headquarters at Sherwood Lodge heard on Friday.

It was alleged he touched them "in a way which was unwanted" and made "inappropriately personal and unwanted comments".

The panel ruled despite the officer's "long and dedicated service" his actions amounted to misconduct and breached the police's standards of professional behaviour.

Mr Brothwell told the hearing he was "mortified he has upset anyone or made them feel uncomfortable".

After the hearing, Deputy Chief Constable Steven Cooper said: "There must be boundaries in the workplace and former PC Brothwell overstepped them, making his female colleagues feel uncomfortable.

"I would like to praise those who came forward to give evidence."
