Water company apologises after burst pipe flooding
A water company has apologised after about 50 homes flooded following a burst water pipe in Basingstoke.
Residents in Trinidad Close alerted authorities that water was in their homes on Friday morning, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said.
Properties in Malta Close, Falkland Road and Carpenters Down were also affected, while others were left with no water or low water pressure.
South East Water's regional leakage manager Martin Cooper said the company was sorry for the damage and interruptions in supply.
He said: "We're sorry to everyone affected by the burst main, which caused flooding to nearby properties and caused some customers in the Basingstoke area to experience no water or a loss of pressure.
"We've been working with partners to support those impacted by the flooding and we'll continue to work to make residents' homes safe and repair any damage caused."
Mr Cooper thanked people for their "patience and understanding" while repairs were carried out.
Beth Holmyard, from affordable housing provider VIVID Homes, previously told the BBC that some of its customers had been affected and would move into temporary accommodation.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council said it had been working to support residents, including help finding temporary housing.
The authority said its street cleaning team was helping clear up debris on the affected roads.
