Dog found dead in stream after suspected stabbing

A bulldog was found dead in a country park after a suspected stabbing.

The male English bulldog had 11 wounds and was discovered on the Elvaston Castle estate in Derbyshire by a member of the public on 10 March.

The RSPCA said the dog was light-coloured brown, unneutered, and a microchip revealed his name was "Dozer" and he was four years old.

He was thought to have died less than 24 hours before he was found with "11 puncture wounds", the RSPCA added.

He had no other injuries or wounds on his body and had a normal body condition.

A spokesperson said: "It must have been very upsetting for the members of the public to find this dog, and we are grateful to them for reporting this and to the staff at the estate for all their help.

"We do not believe the dog had been at the location for very long, and so we are appealing for information to see if anyone saw someone in the area.

"Dozer did have a microchip - but when we followed up the contact details - which were not up to date, we were told the dog had since been rehomed twice."
