Waterpark due for upgrade will remain free to use
A council-run water park that is nearing the end of its operational life is to undergo a major upgrade.
The splash pools at Clifton Park in Rotherham will remain free for families to use after the £900,000 rejuvenation.
Rotherham Council said the 64-jet fountain needed to be repaired and replaced.
The new facility will have features such as water cannons, buckets and run-through archways.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service said that a 2024 consultation found that visitors wanted the splash pad to be free to enter.
The council has now approved the investment from its capital programme, but described the detailed report as "commercially sensitive". The contractor appointed to carry out the work is Ustigate Ltd.
