Homes and businesses have been left with low pressure or no water after a pipe burst in a field in Berkshire.

Those in the the RG18 and RG19 postcode areas of Thatcham were initially affected by the burst at Crookham Hill, with disruption extended on Monday morning to the RG7 and RG14 postcodes.

Thames Water said it had specialist vehicles and a team on site but due to the location and conditions in the field it was taking "longer than normal to start this complex repair".

The water firm said it was bringing in water tankers "to add extra support".

It said the network had also been tweaked to divert water from other areas, however as a result, water pressure may be slightly lower than usual in the Thatcham area, especially during busy usage periods.

In a statement, it said: "We know how inconvenient it is if you lose your water supply, so we'll work hard to get things back to normal as soon as we can."

Thames Water said it hoped to have a further update on the repairs by Monday afternoon.
