Part of the A14 in Suffolk remains closed following a serious crash between a lorry and a van.

National Highways said the eastbound section of the road between junction 47A for Elmswell and junction 49 at Tot Hill, by Stowmarket, was shut at about 04:30 BST.

Suffolk Police, the fire service, land ambulance and air ambulance crews were called to the scene.

Diversions have been put in place from Bury St Edmunds at junction 43, with traffic going on to the A143 and A140 before rejoining the A14 at Tot Hill.

National Highways has advised drivers to check their routes and plan journeys.
