Extra police patrols have been deployed to a park in Nottingham after a woman was grabbed.

A woman in her 20s had been walking in the Forest Recreation Ground on Wednesday at about 13:35 BST when she realised she was being followed, said Nottinghamshire Police.

After stopping near the roundabout of Gregory Boulevard and Sherwood Rise, a man - described as black and in his mid-20s - grabbed her by the arm, police said.

The victim broke free and ran from the scene.

The man - described as of average build and height, with afro-style hair and wearing a navy T-shirt, dark joggers and trainers - gave chase before leaving the area, the force said.

School alert

Ch Insp Mike Ebbins said: "This must have been a terrifying ordeal for the victim who is being supported by our officers.

"We know this incident is likely to cause alarm and distress to members of the community, but we are doing everything we can to track down the person involved."

Police are linking the suspect to an incident near Bluecoat Trent Academy, a short distance away in Pelham Road, on 3 July at about 13:00.

A teacher had reported a man matching the same description acting suspiciously outside the school grounds.

Police said as well as an increased police presence at the park and school, a CCTV van was being deployed that could cover large areas of the park.
