A Kent school's staff and students have been taking part in their own charity version of the hit TV show The Traitors.

Highworth Grammar School in Ashford has been holding a weekly round table and banishment where students and staff guess which of the 24 competing teachers are faithful and which are traitors.

The event, which has been running for the past six weeks, is raising money for Ashford and Tenterden Samaritans.

Physics teacher Lathan Norton, who volunteers for the Samaritans branch and has organised the event, said: "Everyone has really got into it and it has been fantastic to see how everyone plays the game."

Mr Norton said: "I am a Traitors fan.

"I knew I wanted to organise a fundraising event for the school and I knew that I wanted it to fundraise for Samaritans but I thought why not do something a little bit different that brings the school community together."

The school has been hosting a lunchtime event every Thursday where teachers do a challenge, have a round table and staff members get banished.

Pupils and staff give a charity donation to watch.

Mr Norton said: "We try our best to bring that mysterious vibe to our events at lunchtime.

"At one point I had to run around the school collecting information and some clues. "There's a range of challenges to suit everyone."

The finale is on Thursday and so far £1,000 has been raised.

Mr Norton said: "We are excitedly waiting to find out who the final four will be.

"We don't quite have a fire pit but we will try our best to make do with what we have."
