Police car crash leaves two people in hospital

Two people were taken to hospital after a crash between a police car and another vehicle.

The incident took place near Clophill, Bedfordshire, on the A507 between New Road and Ampthill Road at about 22:00 GMT on Tuesday.

One person from each vehicle was taken to hospital.

Bedfordshire Police said the officers were not responding to an incident or engaged in a pursuit when the collision took place.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct, which is standard protocol.

Witnesses or people with dash cam footage have been asked to contact the force.
