A 16-year-old has been arrested after another teenager was stabbed in the arm on Friday evening

A 16-year-old has been arrested after a stabbing in Powys on Friday evening.

Dyfed Powys Police said firearms officers and an ambulance were called to the incident near Parkers Lane, Newtown, at about 20:25 GMT on March 7.

An 18-year-old sustained a stab wound to his arm and received first aid from officers before he was taken to hospital, the force said.

The 16-year-old male remains in custody and has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

In a separate incident, an armed man was allegedly seen chasing another man in the town earlier on Friday, Dyfed Powys Police said.

A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with threatening a person with a bladed article in a public place.

In a statement, Dyfed Powys Police said: "This incident was not connected to last night's incident."
