Teenager charged following suspected hit-and-run
A teenager has been charged in connection with a suspected hit-and-run crash in Wolverhampton in which a carer was seriously injured.
Freya Theobold, 19, was visiting patients on 30 September when she was struck by a stolen car on Stafford Road in Oxley.
She suffered multiple spinal fractures, a broken leg, and needed bowel reconstruction surgery.
On Monday, West Midlands Police said Layton Clenton, 18, from Wolverhampton, had been charged in connection with the incident.
Clenton is due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court next month, accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, using a vehicle without insurance, failing to stop and driving while disqualified.
Ms Theobold was in the first year of an adult nursing degree at the University of Wolverhampton and was working for a care agency when the collision occurred.
One of her colleagues suffered minor injuries.
