Smoke warning as fire destroys industrial building
Residents near a large industrial building fire in Worcestershire are being urged to keep their windows and doors closed due to the huge amount of black smoke coming from the blaze.
Firefighters in seven fire engines were called to Bury End Farm, Rectory Road, near Upton upon Severn, just before 07:00 GMT on Saturday, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said.
A lot of smoke was being produced by the fire in the building, which was being destroyed and had several vehicles inside, spokesman Simon Cusack said.
The blaze, which is being investigated, was brought under control on Saturday morning but fire crews remained at the site.
Mr Cusack said there was still a "significant smoke plume" which was why they wanted people in the town to keep their windows and doors shut "until around about lunchtime".
He said the incident was later scaled back to five fire engines and an aerial ladder platform.
"We’ve got a fire investigation officer in attendance at the incident and she will be spending probably the next four or five hours at the scene, trying to establish the cause," he said.
