Rush hour drivers experienced delays after a motorway collision caused them to be held at a standstill.

All four lanes were shut on the southbound M1 between Milton Keynes and Bedford at about 06:30 GMT on Tuesday morning.

National Highways said three lanes were reopened between junctions 14 and 13 before 07:00.

Traffic conditions were expected to return to normal by 11:45, the roads authority added.
