A 17-year-old boy has been charged with carrying a bladed article in a public place after officers discovered a large machete.

Derbyshire Police said plain-clothes officers were on patrol in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, on Sunday when they saw a boy "acting suspiciously" in Prince Street.

He was detained just before 14:35 GMT and officers found an 18-inch (46cm) blade.

The boy has since been bailed pending further inquiries, the force added.
