Residents said they felt "frustrated" and unsupported after having no or little water supply in their village for a week.

David Black, who lives in Wittering, in Peterborough, said villagers had experienced disruption to their supply and had to go out and buy their own bottled water.

Anglian Water said on its website that it was looking into the issue and its "engineers are out investigating what might be behind it to get people's taps flowing again as quickly as they can".

A spokesperson added: "Customers in the Wittering area may be experiencing low water pressure or even no water at all."

Mr Black, 70, said: "It's very frustrating, I had to buy water. Anglian Water should be delivering water to the village."

He added residents had expressed their "anger" that Anglian Water was "not supporting" the village.

Another local told the BBC: "The residents are in uproar as this has been an intermittent issue since last Sunday.

"The water supply went off yesterday afternoon and is still not fixed. Some houses have had water back but loads [were] still without any water!"

A spokesperson for the water company said it would keep "local residents updated and will also be providing updates on our website".

"Again, we're really sorry about this and thank our customers for bearing with us," they added.
