Several tankers are in Almodington, West Sussex, dealing with a burst sewage pipe, Southern Water says

Several tankers are dealing with a burst sewer main in a West Sussex village.

Southern Water says the fleet is working "around the clock" to reduce the impact of the burst pipe in Almodington, near Bracklesham Bay.

At least six tankers were spotted at about 04.30 GMT in the village and residents said they were blocking Almodington Lane.

Southern Water has apologised for the disruption caused to residents and businesses.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Currently a fleet of tankers are working around the clock to help reduce the impact of the burst.

"We're sorry for the disruption this is causing residents and businesses in the village."

There is currently no timeline for when the repair will be completed but the company said it should have an update later on Monday or early on Tuesday.
