Rocky ends 800-day wait for 'forever home'

A rescue dog has been adopted by a couple in Surrey after waiting 800 days for his "forever home".

Lurcher Rocky was left in the care of the Dogs Trust in April 2019 then returned to the charity in January 2023 after his first adoption did not work out.

But it was "love at first sight" for Imogen and Robert from Reigate when they met Rocky at the Harefield centre after hearing about his story from radio presenter Ken Bruce.

Imogen, an actress and child carer, and Robert, who works for an event hire company, took Rocky home just before Easter and he has finally been able to put his paws up in the Surrey Hills.

"I think his eyes and his energy were just magical to me," said Imogen.

"I actually cried when I saw him.

"Our first couple of weeks with Rocky have been so special. He has settled in so quickly, sleeps soundly, he's eating well, and wagging his lovely long tail."

Richard Moore, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust, said: "We hope that this story encourages more people to come forward to adopt some of our other long-term dogs who are desperately seeking their own forever home."
