Elderly pedestrian dies after van crash

An 84-year-old woman has died after she was hit by a van in South Yorkshire.

The pedestrian was struck by a silver Ford Transit at about 20:00 GMT on Wednesday on Woodhouse Green in Thurcroft, Rotherham.

She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died, South Yorkshire Police said, with her family informed.

The force appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam or CCTV footage to get in contact.
