John Taylor, 86, had been missing since 3 December

Police officers searching for a man who went missing in Warwickshire have said they have found a body.

John Taylor was last seen on 3 December, and the search attracted a huge community effort, with people from across the county taking part, while others volunteered drones.

Warwickshire Police said on Thursday that a body recovered from undergrowth near Kenilworth Castle was believed to be that of Mr Taylor.

It said it was awaiting formal identification, but added his family had been informed.

The force thanked all of those who took part in the search and said it was continuing to support the family.

Speaking on Wrednesday, Det Ch Insp Sutherland Lane said, given the time since Mr Taylor's disappearance, officers were not expecting to find him alive.
