A planning application is expected to made during the course of 2025

Plans for a new hotel at Cornwall Airport Newquay have been agreed, the council has confirmed.

Cornwall Council said the deal to build a Courtyard by Marriott hotel would involve up to £30m of direct investment and create 30 full time jobs.

Cornwall Council's deputy leader and portfolio holder for resources, councillor David Harris, said it was a "small step among wider plans to make better use of the airport estate".

It said a planning application was expected to made during the course of 2025.

'Many more proposals'

The council said the agreement would bring a "world-renowned hotel, leisure and business complex which will complement the current hotel and accommodation provided" in the Newquay area.

It said it had been seeking private sector interest, adding it was the first of "many more" development proposals the authority wants to bring forward.

Mr Harris said he was "really pleased" the agreement had been reached.
