An 87-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was robbed after falling to the ground on Hull's Bransholme estate.

It is believed she may have been pushed from behind while walking along Nidderdale at about 13:25 GMT on Tuesday, Humberside Police said.

A man riding a bike approached the woman to assist her, before he allegedly stole her handbag and fled in the direction of Holwell Road, the force added.

Officers want to trace two people who went to the woman's aid as they could be "key witnesses".

Det Insp Jason Gourley said: "We know a report of this nature will cause shock and concern to local residents, and I'd like to reassure them that I have a dedicated team of detectives following up a number of lines of inquiry, including door-to-door and reviewing CCTV in the area to identify the man involved."

He also appealed for other witnesses and any CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident.
