New tourist information point unveiled
BBCA council hopes a new tourist information point will showcase the very best of what a county has to offer.
The Discover Northamptonshire tourist information point has opened at the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery.
It offers a large map for tourists, as well as leaflets and an interactive screen for visitors.
James Petter, deputy Leader and cabinet member for local economy, culture and leisure at West Northamptonshire Council, said the county had an "amazing array" of places to see.
"We're just not very good about telling people about them, for example, if you said to anyone 'Northampton', they probably wouldn't know where it was on a map," said the Reform UK councillor.
Petter said staff were already looking at other places around the county where information points could be installed.
The interactive screen has QR codes so people can download information about attractions they are interested in on to their phones.
It mirrors the Discover Northamptonshire hub already established at Rushden Lakes.
Richard Clinton, chairman of the Northamptonshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership, said the information point was "really key" to the "visitor economy".
The information point has been funded by the government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
