Application for 74 new homes approved
An application to build 74 homes next to the Heron Park development in Boston has been granted by the borough council.
The plans, by Chestnut Homes Ltd, relate to land north of Slippery Gowt Lane and have been given approval despite a number of objections from the public.
Concerns have been raised regarding the impact that further housing development would have on local roads, drainage, education and health resources.
Chestnut Homes Ltd said that the scheme would help to meet housing targets.
The fifth phase of the Heron Park development would provide 193 affordable homes out of a total of 270, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The proposal received more than 70 objections and comments included concerns over the impact the additional properties would have on flooding for existing homes on Wyberton Low Road. Other local residents said the local roads were already in a "poor condition".
The developer's documents clarified that the site was not designated as wildlife habitat or recreational open space.
They stated that there were "no policies applicable that specifically seek to protect its use bar the designation as countryside."
