Nine ill from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning

Nine people were taken to hospital for potential carbon monoxide poisoning after five houses were affected by fumes.
Residents in Firs Lane, Smethwick, reported feeling unwell at about 18:30 GMT on Sunday and West Midlands Ambulance took nine of them to hospital.
One man was rescued and another was led to safety, West Midlands Fire Service said.
West Midlands Police said it was investigating and liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.
Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that poses a serious threat to health if exposure occurs. It cannot be detected by smell, taste or sight.
There are about 40 deaths a year in England and Wales from carbon monoxide poisoning, according to Cadent Gas.
Before leaving, specialists equipment was used to check the premises were clear of gases and fumes, the fire service said.
