Charity car boot applies for 10-year extension

Car boot sales could be allowed to continue at a park-and-ride site in Plympton for the next 10 years, if a local charity gets planning permission.
Colebrook Community Association is seeking permission from Plymouth City Council to extend the Sunday morning events at Coypool, which raise funds for Colebrook Community Centre.
The organisation said many people visited local shops as well as the car boot sale, helping boost the local economy.
"It makes good business sense," the charity said.
'Well respected'
The Local Democracy Reporting Service said the charity explained it had excellent relationships with local businesses and advertised events at the car boot sale, which takes place between March and October.
A letter from a local resident supporting the application said it was "good for the area and well respected".
The charity said volunteers manned the entrance to make sure vehicles did not queue on on to Plymouth Road.
"We are always aware if traffic starts to build, more volunteers step in to move cars to a safe parking space," it said.
A decision will be made at a later date.
