Ross County investigate racial abuse of goalkeeper
Ross County FC is investigating the racial abuse of goalkeeper Jordan Amissah following the club's 2-1 win away to Aberdeen.
The 23-year-old German, who is of Ghanaian descent, shared a image on Instagram of monkey emojis and racial slurs he received from an anonymous account.
Amissah accompanied it with the caption: "Still some people out there with no brain and too much time on their hands."
The club said it was "aware of racial abuse" received by Amissah after Thursday's match and was backing the player.
Ross County said in a statement: "The club stand fully in support of Jordan and will be contacting the relevant authorities to assist with our investigation."
The club added that it did not know the origin of the Instagram messages and that there was nothing to suggest the comments were made by an Aberdeen supporter.
Former Sheffield United keeper Amissah joined County last month on a short-term contract after regular number one Ross Laidlaw was sidelined by injury.
He has started the Staggies' past three games, a run in which they took seven points from a possible nine to remain out of the bottom two of the Premiership.
