Snow has fallen across the South East as the UK braces for freezing temperatures.

Parts of Kent and Sussex saw snow on Wednesday afternoon.

A Met Office yellow weather warning for snow remains in effect for the region until 23:59 GMT.

The Met Office is anticipating 2cm-5cm (0.7-1.9 inches) of snow falling.

Brighton & Hove City Council have deployed gritters but said the recent wet weather has caused some of the grit to was away.

They added gritting cannot guarantee that roads are free of ice and snow.
