Teen appears in court charged with Kayden Moy murder

A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of 16-year-old Kayden Moy.
The teenager, from East Kilbride, died after a large disturbance on Irvine beach on Saturday evening.
The 17-year-old charged in connection with his death, also from East Kilbride, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court earlier and made no plea.
He was remanded in custody and will appear again within eight days.
Prosecutors said the boy charged with murder had been on bail for another alleged offence since appearing at Hamilton Sheriff Court on 17 March.
He is accused of assaulting Kayden while in possession of a baton, chasing him, causing him to fall to the ground and stabbing him repeatedly with a knife or similar weapon.
He is charged with possessing a baton and attempting, with others, to pervert justice by attempting to conceal his involvement.
The teenager is also accused of "taking flight" from the scene, changing his clothing, hiding a knife and baton and "actively evading the efforts" of police to arrest him.
Kayden Moy was left seriously injured after being stabbed during the disturbance on Saturday, and died from his injuries the following day.
In a statement issued after his death, the boy's family said he was "loved by so many" and that he would be sorely missed by his parents and two younger brothers.
