Drivers warned over QR code parking scam
Drivers in Guildford have been warned about fake QR codes appearing in the town's car parks for a second time following two recent incidents.
Two fake QR codes were posted in local car parks in an attempt to trick people to hand over their card details.
When scanned, these codes prompt people to enter their information onto websites which may mimic those of genuine payment providers.
Warnings about this scam have been issued in other parts of the country, including in Guildford, where QR codes aren't in operation.
Catherine Houston, a councillor at Guildford Borough Council, urged people to report any rogue QR codes to the authority.
