Man arrested after teenage girl raped in field

A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a teenage girl was attacked in a field.

The incident happened close to Wellingborough's Embankment on Tuesday between 14:30 and 15:15 BST.

Northamptonshire Police said the girl was raped and the man then followed her but she was able to get away.

A 21-year-old man from Newcastle was arrested on suspicion of rape and released on conditional bail.

Police have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
